Thursday 23rd August 2018 – EXTRA DATE ADDED
Friday 24th AUGUST 2018 SOLD OUT
BAT WALK AND TALK (One of our Heritage Week events)
€5 PER PERSON Pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited.
21:15 – 23:00 Meet inside the welcome Courtyard at Birr Castle Gardens & Science Centre.
Due to huge demand we have added an additional date for our Bat Walk and Talk event on Thursday 23 August 2018.
Join us at Birr Castle Gardens and Science Centre as we celebrate International Bat Day and discover the many native bats that reclaim the skies above us each night.
Learn how to identify Ireland’s different bat species, how they hunt in darkness and why we should be happy to have them living alongside us.
At dusk, we’ll enter the demesne with our bat detectors and explore the treeline, rivers and lakeside listening for bats flying and feeding over the water and surrounding areas.
We have bat detectors that will be handed out for the evening, but please bring a torch if you have one.
The ground is un-even so suitable footwear and clothing is essential.
Suitable for ages 8+
Please be aware that this is a weather dependent event.
